Required reading for home owners, builders and architects Jul 08, 1998 Andrew Wormer's Builder's Book of Bathrooms is an impressive achievement. In a friendly, narrative format, Wormer describes now only the why's and the how's of designing and building a bathroom. The Builder's Book of Bathrooms excels as both a reference to what's available with explanations of the pros and cons of the various options available, as well as its numerous clear, concise "how to" illustrations.
Numerous lighthearted sidebars inserted among the photos, drawings and informative text discuss the history of the bathroom and its various fixtures.
Information is easily accessed through a very complete index. Within moments of opening the book I was able to identify many of the shortcomings of our plumbing system (an extremely noisy fan)and locate some alternatives.
The Builder's Book of Bathrooms is an excellent introduction to the technology and techniques behind one of the most visited rooms in your home. The in print and online Resources in the appendix, alone, justify adding it to your library.
Excellent & Detailed Publication Mar 05, 2010
By Soberus The author -- Andrew Wormer -- must have an A type & analytical personality. This is truly an evidence based book. Wormer tells what he recommends and his rationales behind his recommendations. In my experience, a part-time renovator X 25 years, I have trialed many systems. I have witnessed my systems succeed and fail. Apparently, the author has had similar experiences but to a much greater depth, detail and longevity. He captured my trust in his rationales and I felt I could simply follow his directions without further research. Few authors can do such. What a breath of hope after being let down by the many and various generic publications which merely show pictures on the cover only to be disappointed by the instructions. Hats off to Wormer for putting the energy required into every detail possibly imagined.
