Kibert uses not only the dominant LEED assessment system, but includes such newer ones as Green Globes and several noteworthy building assessment systems from other countries. Sections introduce the background of the green building movement and walk you through such aspects as the background of high-performance green building design, green-building assessment, the green building process, and ecological design. Broad enough to cover the needs of faculty and students in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, interior design, and construction management, yet focused enough to serve as a reference for building owners and buyers of construction services, Sustainable Construction is a comprehensive look at an emerging process that is environmentally sounds while making good economic sense. Covers everything... Sep 16, 2008
By K. Matty Since I am the 1st person to review this book, I want to just say that I started with a smaller book that gave me the basics of green architecture, terminology and the run down on LEED and the USGBC. Next I followed up with this book and I must say that this book was EXTREMELY informative and covered everything in some way. Most of it was covered in detail and what wasnt covered in detail was touched upon, so you had an understanding of every aspect. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who is starting out towards LEED Accredation.

Does not teach much about sustainable construction Dec 16, 2010
By Tommy Phileros This book by Kibert might be fine as a a LEED test prep manual, but if you actually want to learn how to design a sustainable building, this book is quite poor. For instance, this book's entire section on passive solar design is only about seven pages long, versus several long chapters in other books. Seven pages is barely an introduction, definitely not enough information to design with. If the title had been "LEED Prep Manual", I might have given this book more stars.
If you do want to learn about sustainable building, I would strongly recommend Lechner's "Heating, Cooling, Lighting".

Absolutely wonderful Jun 12, 2009
By Sarah This is a textbook required for my green design 2 class. It provides a huge amount of statistics and green construction methods. Compared to other books about sustainable construction, this one seems much more informative and looks at the real issues behind WHY we should be using sustainable construction.

Excellent text book Dec 25, 2009
By David Allan West It's no light reading, but for someone new to sustainability and/or sustainable construction this book provides a well rounded and balanced discussion of the topics.
