From the supplier: Making reroofing decisions is probably one of the most difficult tasks of property managers given the continuously widening selection of roofing products available in the market. There are currently three broad kinds of roof membranes comprising the low-scope commercial reroofing market in the country. The first is built up roofing which is made up of several layers of saturated felts, coated felts, fabrics or other kinds of reinforcing materials. This type of roofing is popular because it is widely available in the US and can be repaired easily and quickly. The second type is the single-ply roofing which consists of one layer of waterproof membrane. It is ideal for surfaces that have few penetrations. The third type, modified bitumen roofing, uses mats made of glass fiber and/or polyester for reinforcement. It is well suited for roofs with plenty of penetrations. The advantages and disadvantages of these roofings are discussed.
