3Good book, but I don't think anyone proofreads.  May 24, 2009 By billard...IU "spot"
This book has a load of information on refrigeration and heating, but somebody needs to proofread before publishing. The authors definitely know their stuff, but it is the way some things are written that makes some stuff hard to understand. Some textbooks, not many, but some, are written so well that a person could almost teach themselves, but this is not one of those books.
For example: they don't explain the details about how the compound gauge reads.
They just say that it measures low pressure and vacuum. When I first took a refrigeration course, I was confused by their explanation and had to do research on the internet. I wanted to know the conversion between in Hg and microns. To me it seemed as though the gauge should have read from 30 inHg down to 0 inHg NOT down to 30.
