Best of the Lot Dec 20, 2007
By CindyC This book is like a secret interior designers handbook for all to understand. It answers all questions and gives opinions of the author's own personal style as well as her clients. She projects actual dimensions (such as how much countertop overhang is needed at the kitchen island for a stool) so you know what you are talking about when you meet with the designers that you are going to purchase goods from. I have found this book much more helpful than all the other kitchen books I have combined. Well worth the money.

Must have book for the client or designer! May 09, 2009
By Design Concepts I am a Kitchen & Bath Designer and own a Kitchen & Bath Showroom. I have quite an extensive library of design books to help assist my clients and also get new ideas. I have to say that this is one of the most complete books I own. It is an easy read. It is written so that it easy to understand but yet holds the interest of the professional. It is laid out well and helps the consumer understand pros and cons of several decisions that they will have to make. I agree with just about everything she says, which is very unusual for me, and it is a useful tool for me to use. I can loan my client the book and it reinforces everything I am telling them. If you buy no other book, I suggest you add this one to your shelf.

Lyn Peterson's Real Life Kitchens Dec 07, 2007
By Susan L. What great timing for me to find this book! I had just begun plans to renovate my kitchen and everything I need to know is in this book! Questions about little details that I knew would trip me up later -- they are all covered. There are so many decisions to be made when renovating a kitchen, it's pretty overwhelming. This book covers all the bases. Nice photos and layout too.

Somewhat of a disappointment Dec 12, 2010

Since you couldn't look "inside" this book, I was assuming there would be more kitchens like the one on the cover. Instead, inside you will find mostly traditional kitchens featured, some of which look dated. I've bought a few books like this on Amazon, where the publishers pick a picture from inside that represents what most people are looking for, and which is not representative of the rest of the content.
Certainly the kitchen planning tips are very good, but if you're looking for photo inspiration for a contemporary kitchen, this is not the right book.

Very Useful Information Jul 12, 2009

I heard the author speak at the National Kitchen & Bath show and was impressed with her knowledge and advice, so I purchased her book. It is full of beautiful photos, but more importantly it has lots of good tips and information for anyone redoing or designing a kitchen. I am building a new home and although I have already read dozens of books, I still learned new things from her book. From the way the book is written it is clear that the author is intelligent, experienced in kitchen design, and focused on practicality and functionality. Especially for someone just starting to learn about kitchen design and planning, this book will be really useful and give you some great ideas. Much better to forego the mostly useless magazines and spend the money for this book which has real information.
