With record numbers of people flocking to health spas to be massaged, wrapped, and steamed, it’s no surprise that more homeowners are seeking to bring the spa experience home by installing their own hot tubs, saunas, and steam baths. The options in prefab and easy-installation home units that are now available can be overwhelming. Hot Tubs, Saunas, and Steam Baths is the one guidebook homeowners will need for selecting, installing, and enjoying these home spa components.

Full-color photographs complement the text and show the reader the range of designs available for both indoor and outdoor settings. In addition to demystifying the variety of units to choose from, author Alan E. Sanderfoot explains the installation and environmental requirements, addressing such issues as water, drainage, floor and ceiling surfaces, vapor barriers, doors, fencing, and lighting, as appropriate. Since enjoyment is the ultimate goal here, there is plenty of advice on how to make the most of a home spa, sauna, or steam bath, with information on accessories, health benefits, and safety guidelines.

Covering one of the hottest home improvement trends today, Hot Tubs, Saunas, and Steam Baths offers the most up-to-date and accessible information available for anyone interested in creating a relaxing haven in the home.

3Hot tubs  Jan 07, 2008 By M. Linda Hopp "homebody"
Purchased for my savvy husband who is interested in building a steam room. He enjoyed the overall view of the book. It has a glossary, supplier list, and index, which I think is very nice. However, it did not give any book titles regarding this topic to go more in-depth in one of the discussed areas. The front cover states, 'for planning and designing your home health spa'. It seems that would be only for those who would hire it done. If one is truly interested in building a home spa, this a good background book, but you will need to look elsewhere if you truly want to build one.

4Good for planning and design, but it's not a DIY guide  Jun 03, 2009 By Michael A. Duvernois
This could give you ideas or help you plan out a hot tub and/or sauna that you'll hire someone to build. There are better books for the do-it-yourselfer, but this one does have good pictures and a lot of different design ideas.

5A guide packed with charts, color photos, and more  Dec 08, 2005 By Midwest Book Review
Relax in a home spa - but choose one wisely: there are many models and possibilities on the market with a sometimes-bewildering array of features. Sanderfoot's Hot Tubs, Saunas & Steam Baths: A Guide To Planning And Designing Your Home Health Spa covers all these options, from colored waters which change hues according to mood desired to electric heater and cleaning problems, basic maintenance, to building an actual spa with wood and a steam generator. All the options are covered in a guide packed with charts, color photos, and more.
